Is Vigorous Spirit all that good though? I remember ensign saying something about it being good to top off a health bar, but when you need healing, it generally wastes a skill slot.

All it does is add an extra buffer to where you should actually start healing someone. It tops of bars and is useful for wiping out small insignificant amounts of damage before they start to require attention. In the HC bar, it also doubles as a nice trigger for CoP and Kiss. That's really all there is to it, it isn't really useful, but it deserves a mentioned for what uses it has.

Vigorous by itself isn't that great. However, when you have a 2 energy anti-pressure skill that's pretty much impossible to interrupt, it works wonders in places where damage is being distributed across multiple characters. And having pressure on your team is the first step to dying to a sudden spike in RA/TA/PvE. I see it as somewhat equivalent to the motigon used in GvGs. You basically can't die unless it's a spike.

[skill=text]Vigorous Spirit[/skill] is good for to put on someone that is taking steady, or degen type dmg. Especially a Warrior, since it heals every time they attack. Plus it has a low energy cost and is spammable w a 4 second recharge. And with 13 in divine, it would give a nice immediate heal as well. Also it's a cheap enchantment to add to Dwayna's Kiss heal.

I played a sword monk yesterday in RA, fought a team with war+mes+nec+monk. Our team had war+me+2monks. The mes+nec put all their melee hate on me

Just because my cripslash was more pressure than our warrior's power attack!

I don't like Vigorous Spirit. When things are going well you can spam Vigorous Spirit all over the place, wherever there's some damage to clean up, and it sticks around and heals extremely efficiently for some time. Trouble is, as soon as things get even a little ugly you stop using Vigorous Spirit because it doesn't really do anything; then they start to drop, but they won't go back up because you have more important things to do.

I'd use it if I could have, say, 13 skill slots, but I only get 8, and I want every single one of those to provide an ability that's useful in a tight spot. Vigorous Spirit doesn't do that; it's great in the situations when it matters least, and awful in situations when it matters most. That's not worth cutting something that matters for.

By other Earth Magic Armors i hope u dont mean [skill=text]Armor of Earth[/skill] because they dont stack, and armor just slows u down. If you mean [skill=text]Stoneflesh Aura[/skill] i personally wouldnt bother due to high cast time, unmaintainable duration, and yet another wasted skill slot.

I personally dont like this build because I can do alot more with a standard heal/prot hybrid. (I personally like B-light, WoH, SoD or DH), and when i play against one of these as an attacker, they area easy enough to kill usually, either via a KD assault, enchant strip or just really high damage (i can often kill one with c+space on a hammer warrior, no attack skillz)

That statement is limited to 1) places where you will have corpses available, and 2) normal mode.

No, you will need a prot monk, or you will die.

What do you mean, I can redbar everyone solo in HM easy.

Or maybe I just assumed that the discussion was about soloing NM as was stated by the OP and that in HM you would obviously bring a second monkO_o

Ah I missed the "normal mode" line...

I stand corrected...

Yeah, remember this isn't one of those fancy builds that allow you to withstand hard bashing monsters in HM. However, this is one that'll allow you to take just one monk instead of the usual two in NM, allowing more room for damage characters. Plus, it's easier to play
